The Ethiopian Community Association in Atlanta has released the first official statement regarding the shooting death of Surafel Assaminew and announced a peaceful rally at the Capitol in Atlanta, Georgia.

The peaceful rally will take place on Monday, November 17th from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM. The location is 206 Washington Street (between MLK and Mitchel street).

The family plans to present Governor Perdue with the petition at this rally. Please JOIN US and stand behind Surafel's family as they present the 5,000 signature petition to the governor of Georgia.

To date over 5,233 concerned citizens from the nation and all over the world have endorsed a petition requesting a complete and open investigation. The Ethiopian Community Association will be sending these signatures as well as letters of support from different civic groups and civil rights organizations to high-ranking Cobb County and Georgia officials.
