ADDIS ABABA - Two former pilot-fighters of the Ethiopian Air Force whose families urged Ethiomedia.com to join in the search for their whereabouts are reportedly OK and out of country.

For the safety of the young pilots, namely 2nd Lt. Teklu Takele - Co-pilot on an Mi-35 fighter helicopter and 2nd Lt. Tewodros Gizachew - Co-pilot on a DHC-6 transport airplane, EthioMedia has refrained from divulging information received from a "credible" source.

Lt. Tewodros Gizachew was an engineer and also a third-year Computer Science student. He was willing and working on Computer-based job in addition to his Co-pilot duty.

2nd Lt. Teklu Takele was a third-year Mechanical Engineering student while joining the Air force. "Their were young talents aspiring to serve their country," our source said.

Prior to their disappearance, the young pilots were sharing their fears with friends that they may face government retribution because they were student trainees of Captain Teshome Tenkolu, the former Director of Mekelle Flight Training School who commandeered one of the school's planes and defected to Eritrea in February 2003.
