PERTH, Western Australia - The United Ethiopian Democratic Forces' Support Group in Western Australia called a public meeting and led discussions regarding the UEDF mission as well as the current political situation in Ethiopia, on Saturday 8th November 2003, in Perth.

A considerable number of people attended the meeting and participated in the discussions actively. The meeting proved that the UEDF has a strong and broad-based support among Ethiopians in Western Australia.

Participants of the meeting underlined the need to bring an end to the TPLF/EPRDF regime and expressed their determination to support the peaceful struggle led by the UEDF. They praised the political wisdom of the opposition parties in forming the UEDF and enthusiastically vowed to do everything possible for the realization of democracy in Ethiopia.

Different speakers in the meeting condemned TPLF/EPRDF for its destruction of the nation, massacres, ethnic cleansing, denial of democratic and basic human rights, imprisonment of political activists, and for the entire crisis it has brought upon the sovereignty of the country. At the conclusion of the meeting, new members joined the Support Group. The meeting passed the following resolutions:

1. Condemned the TPLF/EPDRF anti-Ethiopian government of Meles Zenawi.
2. Reaffirmed its political, moral and material support to UEDF.
3. Agreed to work closely with other UDEF support groups in Australia and other countries.
