It is to be recalled that the TPLF/EPRDF minority regime overthrew the
Dergue dictatorship promising peace and prosperity for all.
However,
the
regime's tenure is full of blood and genocide on an unprecedented scale
in
the history of our country. As the regime gets desperate and insecure,
its
form of repression has defied all international norms and standards of
behaviors with atrocities being conducted against all sections of
Ethiopians.
The latest victims in the serious of tragedies in this
respect
are the Annuaks and the Oromos through what appears to be state
engineered
mass killings that continue unabated. We assume that the regime would
intensify what it calls 'ethnic conflicts' and disappearances of
opponents
in the run up to the 'national election in 2005.
The UEDF Support Committee in UK condemns state-sponsored massacres of
the
Annuaks and Oromos that the TPLF/EPRDF is conducting at the present. As
a
civic group, we would like to appeal to the International community,
particularly western Governments, to use all their leverages with the
government of Mr. Meles Zenawi to hualt criminal assaults against
civilians
that include the elderly and children.
We urge the international
community
to take a principled stand to pressure the TPLF/EPRDF government to
adhere
to international norms of good governance and to bring to justice
members of
the government's officials and security services that are implicated in
the
genocide.
We urge all our compatriots around the world to stand shoulder to
shoulder
to expose the TPLF/EFRDF regime's crimes against all Ethiopians and to
lobby
governments to use their influences for a democratic accountability and
freeing up the system to stem the flow of refugees due to political
instability.
The UEDF support committee in UK will endeavor to work with all
concerned
in the struggle to end state-sponsored genocide against our people and
in
pursuit of the establishment of an all-inclusive government of all
Ethiopians.
Unity is our strength!
