Switching the attention of blame
By Getachew Reda

I read a few legitimate complaints by some Ethiopians against what has been said by foreign parliamentarians and a few US congressmen regarding the proposal for an economic sanction on Ethiopia for rejecting the Border Commission ruling that awarded Badime and part of Irob to Eritrea . I agree the complaint is legitimate and a just cause. In the meantime, the public also has to be alert not to be fooled by a diehard Meles Zenawi's cadre: "Birhane Kahssay" and "Aiga", the "back-up" website of Walta, which in turn works as a 'public attention diverting machine.'

We have tested them several times in the past during the two-year conflict with the bandits in Asmara and Mekele and Addis Ababa. They have been defending their masters with absolute loyalty, clapping over the fraudulent "Algeris agreement" (until last month Birhane was praying for the Meles regime to stay in power, winning through the next elections believed to belong to the victory of the opposition).

While many Ethiopians before or after the accord of the Algeris agreement condemned such "irresponsible & treasonous" agreement by Meles Zenawi, such elements remain "still" the strongest allies of Meles on the web, and could be summarized as the chief opponents of the rights of the Afar people and the Red Sea coast.

Such agreement still stands as "null and void" as ever in the soul of the Ethiopian public. However, the little cadres keep trumpeting the propaganda tone of Meles Zenawi, who says the cause of the problem is not Meles and his government but the "Border Commission".

Mind you! These elements were the worst, which Meles Zenawi, Seyoum Mesfin and Sebhat Negga used as tools to misinform the public, which we alerted about the threat of another new round of war.

Here we go! Here we are talking for the second time (in the year 2003) "sanction and war"! How did we find ourselves in this new mess again!?

Many run to blame the Border Commission for the present unstable situation. It is of course reasonable to blame the illegal border commission, but is it reasonable enough to use the commission as a escapegoat while the core of the driving forces for such humiliation are left aside with "minor criticism," while all are aware who in the first place went an extra mile to establish the border commission to begin with?

We have heard Meles and his servants blatantly putting all the blame on the commission for awarding Badime and other lands to the bandits in Asmara. I am also amazed by the cleverness of Mele's die-hard group the way they try to take advantage of the opportunity of the threat of economic sanctions easily to save their master from being held as the primary cause of our humiliation. I am also amazed the way they stress their pen only against the Fuhrer (Isayas), not Meles as the partner of the problem.

How long do we have to stay on with the habit of blaming far away from our control and jurisdiction while the internal devil is still alive and active in Addis Ababa working against the nation's interest?

We have also shamefully "failed" so far to overthrow the "Eritrean underground agent" in Addis Ababa, "Mr.Meles Zenawi," who seized power without popular mandate. How did we fail to arrest and convict him with his other gangs in Mekele and in Addis Ababa for treasonous act?

It is obvious to all of us "Isayas and Meles" both as an "Eritrean guerrilla agents and leaders" are determined to die after they fulfill their mission. Regardless, they are seeing and feeling the bitter taste of public rejection against "both of them" by the Ethiopian people, they will still keep on doing what they set out to do.

While seeing their determination to stay on the destruction of a nation, we have to also ask and talk to each other "how further are we determined to walk with them to allow them to destroy us more?"

We understand the Ethiopian public is unarmed. We also understand the so-called "Ethiopian" army, the police, the air force is controlled by few mercenary bandits and murderous thugs from top to bottom. Because of such grip on power, the Ethiopian public remains under intense attack and pressure in the event of public disobedience. Be that as it may, how can we simply fold our hands and allow the nation to be destroyed by Eritrean agents and ethnic hooligans?

Under such scenario -"with it"- is also - "his cadres now started waging a new strategy campaign against foreign forces to buy time for the treasonous game that Meles and his Foreign Minister played in the Algeris agreement which I called it "switching the attention of blame".

Make no mistake; we are not totally condemning the campaign against those foreign forces who want to sanction Ethiopia. What we are addressing here is Birhane kahssay and his likes must also work hard to campaign against their boss Meles Zenawi for his arrest to be tried for treason. We have said this day in and day out SOME DIDN'T BELIEVE US WHEN WE SAY "as long as Meles and his gangs are in power, the misery and conflict will never stop"! Here we are in the year 2003 talking sanction and conflict! Were we not right? How do we get into this mess again if that was not the case?

Hence, therefore such "undeniable and visible" evidence standing straight in front of our eyes, "how long can we allow our fathers, brothers, sisters, properties, lands, dignity, blood and liberty being the "holy waters" of MELES ZENAWI?

We all have witnessed the truth ness and the result of being a slaughtering sheep for Mele's Zenawi's agenda from 1998-2000. Therefore, if we agree with the point of -

(A) - "Who is playing children in the name of Ethiopia's sovereignty in the international stage?

(B) - "Who is causing such destruction and humiliation without consulting the public"?

(C) - "who led us to such unbelievable mess and threat of sanction"?

If majority of us agree (no doubt) the cause for the above mess and threat against the nation is Meles Zenawi's government- "then" why in the heavens can one benefit from more war and misery by switching the attention of blame to outsider parties leaving the core of the problem "active" and "safe" in the Palace of Minilek to stir the gut of the nation for more agony?

While appealing a "shame of appeal" to stop the threat of sanction, can we also ask foreign powers to cooperate with the nation's public to overthrow Meles and Isayas at the same time the way they impose them on us in 1991? What curse are we walking on?

Then! only then! Is our peace, dignity, liberty, and sovereignty respected. The war is inevitable! Yes! You may say "hell no!" as long as the causes are there "sooner or later" it is going to be happen. If so, under whose command? Meles, Samora, Yohannes? Back to the mess again?!
