ADDIS ABABA - Dr. Bute Gutu, who's Associate Vice President for Academic Programs of Addis Ababa University (AAU) on Tuesday lost his wife who had been receiving treatments at Black Lion Hospital after she was severely beaten by police in the recent anti-Meles protests in Addis.
Dr. Bute and his wife were living in Germany for more than 10 years before he returned
to his country to teach at Addis Ababa University. His wife was running
her own business, a pastry house around Kotebe. During the recent Addis
protests, she was taken out from her work place and beaten severely by
security forces. She was being treated at Black Lion Hospital until she was declared dead today.
