SEATTLE - The Seattle Chapter of the North America (NA) KINIJIT Support Group elected new officers and discussed current developments and activities within and outside of KINIJIT North America on June 25.

Seattle Chapter chairman Getachew Biru first briefed members on

  1. 2nd NA KINIJIT Conference resolutions,
  2. status and essence of the recently formed Alliance for Freedom and Democracy (AFD), and
  3. formation of KINIJIT International Leadership.

All these developments, Ato Getachew said, will undoubtedly enhance and help our national struggle against tyranny and injustice in our homeland. He also reminded the gathering to be vigilant of those who want to plant seeds of discord and division amongst us by unleashing malicious information. A lively discussion in the form of questions and answers ensued later where the audience freely expressed their views and opinions.

The next agenda of the meeting was the election of new officers. Prior to the nomination and election process, three nominating committee members were selected from the house. Then, out of the total eight nominees presented, the top five with the highest vote were elected by the attending KINIJIT members and supporters. The five new officers will work together with the current three remaining committee members.

Finally, the meeting adjourned with a short introduction of the new officers. The new officers promised to do their utmost best to serve and fight for the causes of the Ethiopian people.

The committee would also like to thank all those members and supporters who came to this meeting in spite of the many unforeseen events that were taking place on this day in our community.
