from a brother and almost instantly called on him “Come on!” I wish this could have answered my question on why Meles et al managed to take 77 million Ethiopians for a ride for such a long time. I wish the single answer to my question were the fact that such God-fearing innocents are playing or watching the game at face value all the time!
The writer of the letter candidly attempted to solve the “puzzle” and suspected that may be because “they may use it to sue the democracy-lover Ana Gomez.” Just like that!
Though I do not doubt that Meles’ puppets are busy on a futile exercise of gathering every piece posted on Ethiomedia for their records, I refuse to be fooled by the assertion that the Herald referenced this website only for the sake of what the writer suspected. If that is really a puzzle and one wants to untangle the mystery, an advice worth considering would be to read between the lines.
Here is a hint: How about trying to relate it with the recent blog on Seminawork? That blogger recently posted on its site a claim against the Government’s blocking of Bloggers and all websites except Ethiomedia.
By the way, I would not be surprised if that government blocks these websites for a multitude of reasons. Need a reason? Then, I just read that the same government is wasting tax payer’s hard earned money on a petition signed by it’s cadres against Deutche Welle and the VOA. I am not surprised at that either. Going back to the Herald attempt, or call it mockery, I offer one of the missing pieces to solve the “puzzle”.
Assume some readers of the above mentioned blog have wondered how/why on earth did Ethiomedia survive the government’s “revolutionary action” of blocking unwanted websites. If Ethiomedia is really critical of the government, how come it is accessible in Ethiopia, some asked, let’s assume. Further, assume some of those readers were loyal readers of the now infamous The Reporter news paper before the paper was forced to give up its “Free Press” mask and came out clean as the government’s hidden foot soldier. Now, assuming all other factors to remain the same, designers of a hypothetical plot think, Ethiomedia will lose its credibility as anti EPRDF if one of the government’s papers pretends to have “accidentally” quoted their “supporter”. Does this sound familiar?
You see, Meles’ cronies got you right at the outset if you have questioned why they let Ethiomedia go unchecked at the first round. If you were still disoriented as they had thought you would, then they fed you with a “confirmation.” Ethiopian Herald “made a terrible mistake” and posted a high profile message as it appeared on Ethiomedia!
Well, if you are one of those Ethiopians who tend to give governments and their propaganda machines the leisure of a second chance, then the sick project will succeed with you doubting the credibility of Ethiomedia! I admire the previous writer for not falling victim per se but I am afraid he has lost the ball at a blink of your eyes.
We ought to refuse to be dragged into this circus! So much generosity towards cowards, let’s go back to business and keep on uprooting the bad seeds of mistrust, divisiveness and hatred!
